Oklahoma Department of Transportation
Government Website
Problem
Over the years, the Oklahoma Department of Transportation's website had evolved through multiple redesigns, content migrations, and system integrations. As information from various sources was merged into a single platform, the overall user experience suffered, making it difficult for visitors to find the information they needed and creating unnecessary friction between the public and government services.
Solution
As the sole designer and developer on the project, I designed and built a large-scale, responsive website focused on simplifying navigation, improving accessibility, and reorganizing content around user needs. By prioritizing clear information architecture and intuitive design, the new experience enables users to find the information they're looking for in three clicks or less.
Challenges
-
Consolidating content and functionality from multiple legacy systems into a unified experience
-
Designing intuitive navigation and information architecture for a large volume of government content
-
Maintaining consistency across hundreds of pages and multiple departments while ensuring a cohesive user experience
-
Balancing modern user experience standards with accessibility requirements and organizational constraints
